YOU ARE WOMAN ? YOU WON'T DRIVE CAR IN S.ARABIA

Saudi Arabia, has a law that puts a ban for women at the wheel.

Recently a woman - Shayma Jastaniah was sentenced to 10 times whips after being caught driving a car. This sentence led to activists launching a campaign calling on Saudi officials to drop all charges against a woman who was sentenced to ten lashes with a whip after being found guilty of driving.

Saudi King Abdullah has revoked the 10 lashes sentenced to Shaima Ghassaniya and she left free.

Women in Saudi Arabia are also not allowed to vote, however the Saudi King Abullah, announced last week that women will be allowed to vote in the coming local elections.

BABU ALIYEDAI MWISHO WA DUNIA MAY 21 HUYU HAPA

FROM FRANCE : A MESSAGE

GO PLACIDLY AMID THE NOISE & HASTE
Remember that there is a fool on every corner and a sucker born every minute; be on good terms with all of them.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; listen to others, even the dull & ignorant, for they too have money to spend.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter – especially if you check out their balance sheets – for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your country can do for you…before it goes broke.
Keep interested in your career, however humble; you’ll probably need the money.

Exercise caution in your business affairs…for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is: many persons strive for high ideals, though everywhere life is full of private heroism, as well as public humbug.

Desideratum: The Counsel of Years
Be yourself, but only if you can’t do better than that. Especially, do not feign affection, for what is the point?
Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is perennial as the grass…or at least as cyclical as presidential elections.

Take kindly the counsel of years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth; the old codgers might know something. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune; misfortune is practically guaranteed, especially after 18 years of Alan Greenspan at the Fed.
But do not distress yourself with imaginings; there is no need…things are worse than you could ever imagine anyway. Beyond a wholesome disciple, be gentle with yourself. But do not forget to kick a man when he is down; he would do the same to you.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees, the stars, and bathtub rings; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should, whether you like it or not.
Therefore be at peace with God and on even terms with bookies and barkeeps. With all its shame, drudgery, claptrap & broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

ORIJINO ALADJI TOKA IVORY COAST

We bana !

SCIENTISTISTS CAN NOW READ MINDS

Scientists  from the University of Washington have found a way to monitor the form of words in the human brain. This development is helpful in one day to be able to understand the paralyzed patients.

The researchers found a way to “disconnected” with the deepest brain circuit in order to understand the formation of words – words. Using electrodes, they found regions of the brain involved in penciptaans about 40 votes that make up the English language.

They found that every voice has a distinctive signal which may be read a computer program.
Research mind-reading was done by a team from the center of innovation in neuroscience and technology, University of Washington. The study was led by Eric Leuthardt and were investigating four people who suffer from severe epilepsy who each have a 64 they attacked and implant electrodes in his head.
To read the full story on this development , click here

In another development of mind reading, the University of California in the US, have  reconstructed video clips based only on the brain activity of the people who watched them.  Scientists can now peer inside the brain and reconstruct videos of what a person has seen, based only on their brain activity.

UBUNIFU

FREE CALLS TO CELLPHONE AND LANDLINE USING GMAIL

It is not google talk chart service, this is something more than that.

Last year, Google introduced a free service to call cell phones and landline phones free of charge !

Wait ! it is not free for every country. In CANADA and USA it is free. In South Africa, it is free to call to those countries CANADA and USA only.

For other countries, google charges very small rates to make calls. How will you pay, you know the methods of settling online transactions ! use that.

But before using this service, you must install voice and video plug ins. Read more information at  ; gmailblog.blogspot.com

FROM ZAMBIA: THE OPPOSITION LEADER BECOMES PRESIDENT

The new Zambia president is Mr. Michael Sata (in the picture), 74 years old, former police office, currently the leader of the major political party Patriotic Front.
For his sharp wit and fiery speeches he was nicknamed
' King Cobra'.

In 1990s he was a minister in the government when Fredrick Chiluba ruled the country through the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) but in 2001 he went into opposition and founded the Patriotic Front (PF).

Mr. Michael Sata was once a member of the former rulling party ( United National Independence Party- UNIP) under the late Keneth Kaunda  but moved to an opposition party Multiparty Democracy (MMD) that defeated UNIP in the 1991 elections.

He participated in the 2006 election as a contender to the late president Levy Mwanawasa, he lost the election.

In 2008, he also participated in the presidential election after the death of president Mwanawasa, but he lost again to Mr. Rupiah Banda for 2% votes.

This year, he won the presidential election by 7% of counted votes against his arch rival Mr. Rupiah Banda. The distribution of the votes was Mr. Rupiah Banda - 36% while Mr. Michael Sata -43%.

FROM CHILE - LATIN AMERICA

The following are quoted from http://www.sovereignman.com/, from the words of John Cobin, correspondent for sovereignman.com :-

In the Age of Turmoil, places like Chile make great sense as a place to plant sustainable (or resilient) communities, or to have a second home which serves as an escape hatch from ever-imposing First World economic misery.

There are things help make Chile an attractive place to live or have as a home base. At the very least these things should make any businessman stop and take notice of the potential opportunities that the country affords.

Here are some of highlights about the country :

First, Chileans work more hours (2,068 hours per year per employee) than anyone in the world besides people in South Korea and Greece. What is more, after falling in 2009 and 2010, Chilean work productivity rose 3% in 2011.

Second, according to the Financial Development Report of the OECD, among those countries in the world with high middle incomes per capita, Chile was ranked in second place in the category of banking system stability.

Third, Chileans have many reasons to be proud of their medical care system, which has helped generate the highest life expectancy in Latin America and has minimized problems with children's malnutrition. The country has more medical school graduates than Israel or Japan and, equal with the United States, boasts 6.5 doctors per 100,000 inhabitants.

Fourth, Chilean has some of the cleanest water in the world, ranked alongside of Holland and Switzerland in this category. Chile is in the top ten in sewage treatment, beating out the United States, Canada and Sweden.  Having a good water system greatly reduces potential disease problems and helps recoup public spaces near the ocean shoreline, lakeside areas and river banks.

Fifth, Chilean fruit is now famous all across the world. The National Society of Agriculture highlighted that more Chilean grapes are sold than those from any other place on earth.

Chile leads the world in exports of plums, avocados and blueberries, and is in the top five countries for exports of cherries and apples.  Local wines are also world leaders, being bested only by European and South African producers.

Furthermore, Chile ranks among the top five exporters of pork products in the world.

Sixth, Chile led all Latin American countries in the category of Internet penetration with 42%. Uruguay and Argentina registered 34%, while Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica and Peru came in at 21% (according to a study by Havas Digital sponsored by the BBC). Moreover, Chile shares the distinction (along with Argentina and Venezuela) of having 100% cellular telephone penetration.

Seventh, Chile was ranked first in Latin America and one of the best overall in the world for competitiveness (according to a study by the World Economic Forum). Chile was tied for first place in the world for controlling inflation and holds sixth place in controlling public debt.

Its quality of institutions was found to be excellent. Public finance is healthy, people have confidence in public policies and government actions tend to be transparent.

The government does not pay agricultural subsidies, helping Chile earn a ranking of tenth place in this category around the world, and there are hardly any entry barriers caused by import tariffs.

Chile also features a good business banking environment, notably in its well-developed loan and credit market. Competitive businesses in Chile have a chance to thrive, and that is good news for Chile's future.

Finally, curiously, 39% of Chile people over the age of 15 are single. This figure is equaled in South Korea, but both countries have a much higher figure than most other countries like Mexico (33%), Spain (30%), New Zealand (30%), Slovakia (30%), France (29%) or Brazil (30%). The OECD country average is 26%.

Chile also has a relatively low percentage of married people (also 39%), and a relatively high percentage of people who live together, are widowed, separated or divorced (22%).

Thus, for those seeking to be married, Chile could be fertile ground for finding a mate given that such a high percentage of people are not married.

SHOPPING IN SA - 2

Several viewers from Tanzania who want to visit South Africa, for education purpose  have asked information about prices of clothes.

One thing to tell you is that ; there are so many shops for clothes here. The franchising business has made it easy for many companies to serve their customers across the country. And if you don't have time to go the shops, you can order online.

The following is a selected list of shops for clothes, check for yourself the prices so that you can budget well how you will be spending your money on clothes if you wish to purchase new clothes while you are here.

But in summary, if you want normal wear, it can cost from R35 - R250, while there are clothes and shoes for up to R 700 ( about Tshs.170,000/=)

The list is :

MONEY MATTERS - YOU BETTER READ THIS !

Taking the case of SA, when you want to spend your money for the first time abroad, you know you can’t use the Tshs. So you have to change the Tshs. or other currency you have to the local currency e.g here – RAND.

Since the RAND has more value than Tshs. you may mistakenly think things are cheap here, when you want to buy some items, and therefore don’t bother to observe economizing. For example, a banana for R2, or a plate of food for R35 may seem so cheap for us from TZ where we buy for instance a plate of food for about Tshs.4500.

And if you are not caught in the trap of considering the things are cheap, then you will be a slave of trying to convert every price in Tshs. so as to know whether you are economizing or not. You may be wrong in some cases because you are in a different country and you are probably buying something that you are consuming in that country so why use TZ rates?

In summary, the difference in value of TZ and other countries may take you into many surprises and after all you must be able to manage your spending before you go bankrupt in the foreign country.

Just imagine, you find a phone for R500 ,you may think it is very cheap for the first time, by just looking at the figure itself, or when you try to convert the R500 to equivalent Tshs.but when you stay in the country for a long time, you may realize that R500 is not a small amount of money, it is not JUST easy to generate that money in a short time , like it is not just easy in TZ to generate TShs.250,000/=

I hope the same, applies to those coming from abroad where currency has more value than Tshs. Imagine a person buying food for R30 in SA, but coming to TZ, he finds a plate of rice at Tshs.4500 ! even if it is a different currency, the difference in figures brings  a certain experience that one needs to accommodate with before running out of cash.

A person who buys car in his country at R80,000/= comes to buy in TZ a car at Tshs. 9 million ! Just looking at the figure, it brings a kind of surprise !

ANOTHER WAY OF SETTLING ONLINE TRANSACTIONS

Using your VISA debit card  you can pay for your online purchases. You can also request your customers to send their payments to your bank account for you to withdraw. U can also use CREDIT CARD.

In other countries, the method of settling online transactions is PAYPAL. To find how you can access this service in Tanzania, go to :https://www.paypal.com/tz/

However, currently, in Tanzania the Paypal service is available for sending money only, this means , you need to request someone to put a balance for you, then you can start using this to make purchases online.

In Kenya and South Africa, you can send and receive payments via PAYPAL.

WHAT A BUSINESS !!!

Residents in SA, have access to legal insurance from companies such as legal wise, scorpion legal protection,  and clientele legal-cover.

This type of legal insurance requires clients to pay a certain amount of money every money, and when an invent happens that need assistance of lawyers, then these companies are there to make sure that their clients get the best legal support.

I see it as a good business opportunity that can be applied even in Tanzania, but feasibility study is needed to find out whether it is really feasible may be, the lawyers in Tanzania can partner with those in SA who are experienced in this business to expand business there.

HATA BONGO TUNAWEZA !!

THE DIFFERENCE ON THE ROAD

Here traffic police do not wear white clothes like those in Tanzania. Much more, different provinces (South Africa has 9 provinces) have different colours for traffic police clothes while you may also find some provinces share the colour of the uniforms.

Much more, the plate numbers for cars registered from different provinces are different. For example those registered in Gauteng provinces will have GP word at the end of the number, while those in Cape Town have CA.

EC stands for Eastern Cape Province
This number is from Kwazulu Natal Province

Ila Yote Maisha.....!
