For a list of universities in South Africa, you can check here LIST OF UNIVERSITIES FROM WIKIPEDIA

Since there are so many universities in SA we can not provide list of costs of studying in each university, instead we are going to summarize the important things you need to know if you wish to study here including a generalized costs of study;

1. Though for Tanzanians from Tanzania need not to apply for a VISA when they visit SA for a personal or business trip which doesnot exceed a stay of more than 3 months, you will need a Study Permit if you want to study in SA.  You will need to apply for this study permit and pay a fee, the last time we checked was R430. You should contact SA embassy in Dar es salaam for more information on how to apply this permit. The SA permit is in MASAKI/Oysterbay area in Dar es salaam.

2. You will also need to pay for Foreign Student levy. You should contact the respective university that you want to apply so that they can give you the amount of levy you will have to pay.

3. If you wish to stay in the campuses  of your respective university, you will be needed to pay an advance resident/accomodation fee whose amount differ depending on university you choose.

4. You will need to pay for application fee and registration fee.

5. If you do not wish to stay in the campus, you may need to rent a room/house. For a complete house it can cost up to R 3000 a month, while a single room may cost from R 1000. To read more about costs of living read our article  KAMA UNAFIKIRIA KUTEMBELEA SAUZI

6. You will need to apply and obtain admission before you can apply for study permit and make other payments. It is better to make sure you have completed all formalities for your admission before you travel to the country.

7. Tuition fees can vary from R15000 per annum up to R45000 per annum while dissertation based degrees may be cheaper, some from R9460.
